I can’t express how thankful I am that such an amazing  person has been part of my life.  Not only did you make me into a better writer, but you have taught and inspired me to become a more confident, brave, and proactive person.  You have supported me through countless hardships and have guided me to achieve the impossible.  I will do my best to keep my future bright!

Hello, this is Jonathan.  Just saying thanks for the edits on my document.  It is a good opportunity to look back over my work and improve based on my former mistakes.  You put so much work into each and every correction made.  The sessions we spend together are only one hour long, but you put so much more time into our lessons so that I am able to learn at least twice as fast.  Thank you for so many improvements.

Miss Kelemen was my third grade teacher, and I only have fond memories of her and her classroom.  She could push you to do your best while being kind and caring.  The classroom was always a great learning environment where you could be yourself and feel comfortable while learning.

Hi. My name is Esha Salman, and I have been tutored under Ms. Allie ever since I was in third grade.  I remember when she used to come to my house and when she used to give my family and me sweet Christmas presents.  One thing that I always acknowledged in Ms. Allie was that she wasn’t afraid to open up to anybody.  She would always give me her opinion about my writings, and sometimes we would get lost in deep conversation talking about other worldly issues.  Ms. Allie wasn’t just my tutor, she was my friend.  I will never forget her face or her red pen.  Even when she’s all the way across the country, I get reminded of her every time I see my Vocabulary Workshop book.  It’s not just her amazing feedback that makes her special, it’s how she is and was to me.  If Ms. Allie hadn’t come into my life four years ago, my writing would have been a complete mess.  Not only did Ms. Allie help improve my writing grade, but she also made my homework assignments fun.  Sometimes, she would assign me to watch a movie, other times, she would tell me to play a game of chess with my family.  Ms. Allie wasn’t only nice to me, she was nice to my whole family.  She speaks to my family and me as if we are old friends from kindergarten.  Ms. Allie, you truly brought a change to my life.  That change not only affected my grade, but it affected my experience as a person and made me look at worldly issues and writing a whole different way.  That’s why if you’re thinking of joining Ms. Allie, don’t even hesitate.  Her red pen may be intimidating, but you will see, she is the most generous person you will ever meet.

My name is Lila Choi, and I was a Wilmington Tutoring student from 2017 summer  to December.  I am a Korean immigrant and have lived in the United States for two years.  Ms. Allie is the best English tutor and reading tutor that I’ve ever had.  She has amazing writing, editing, and grammar skills.  Also, she has the passion to prepare lists of vocabulary and make chapter questions of books for students, by herself.  She taught me great English skills based on her long career as a tutor.  I also greatly improved my reading skills while I read with her.  The study skills that I learned with her are also very helpful for me.  She always motivated me to work hard and taught me self-discipline to overcome my weaknesses.  She has a warm heart as well as her astonishing teaching skills. Ms. Allie, my first English tutor in America, is also the person who taught me American culture and basic knowledge that is necessary to live in America.  She was supposed to prepare me for the SAT and teach me how to write essays, but she also made efforts to address my weak vocabulary and idioms knowledge.  It was Ms. Allie who encouraged me and gave me advice when I was having a hard time personally as an immigrant.

Time that I spent with Ms. Allie was absolutely amazing, useful, and joyful.  Although I can’t take her class anymore after my moving, I still miss her, and she’s the best teacher that I have ever had.

I’m so glad I found you! I’m thankful to the Universe for placing me in your 6th grade class ’94 at Valerio Street Elementary!  You truly  made a positive impact early in my life.  You were my best teacher ever!  I need to find my class photos to share the memories…

As today is Teacher Appreciation Day, I want to thank you for giving me some of the best experiences in school.  When I was your student, my family was going through some tough times, and your classroom was an escape.

Michael Negrete, Los Angeles❤

I had Miss Kelemen as my teacher in 1st grade and again in 4th.  A lot of kids thought she was hard, but she pushed us in a good way because she changed my life. Other teachers didn’t care as much. She wanted the students to be the best in life they could be and encouraged us to be interested in things we normally wouldn’t like, such as geography and social studies. We had a lot of writing in 4th and she’d always give a lot of feedback in red pen.  Those corrections helped me improve a lot, and I think it helped for all the years after. I’m an adult now with a family of my own and am a better father to my kids thanks to everything I learned while I was in Miss Kelemen’s class.  Those were valuable times.  If you can have the chance to have her teach your kids, she will give you amazing results.

I am Korean and was a homestay student for three years in Fullerton, California.  My English was just okay, so I struggled the first year (10th grade) in my private school in Whittier.  Working with Miss Allie as my reading tutor gave me solid study skills that helped me survive with all of the difficult reading assignments and writing projects.  I acquired tools to enable me to figure out the meanings of the complicated stories.  I had never used dictionaries or thesauruses before working with Miss Allie, but I ended up using those tools all through the rest of high school and college.  I could see that my writing improved in the year I worked with Miss Allie so much. She knows EVERYTHING about proper grammar, punctuation, structure, and helped me understand how to organize my writing.  Now, I am correcting other people because of what she taught me! It was a good experience for me.

Parent Comments on Desert Sky Tutoring

Ms. Kelemen is an exceptional teacher who has helped my son strengthen his writing and grammar skills in a very demanding AIG school.  She exhibits a lot of passion for teaching, which is evident in her dedication to each assignment.  She asks questions to challenge my son’s logic and gives constructive feedback.  She has taught him how to research to find examples, articles and information, for supporting details in his papers.  Through her instruction, he has learned how to prewrite, plan and draw up an outline before writing papers.  In addition, she has helped him conquer grammar quizzes- from making D’s and F’s to solid A’s.  Ms. Kelemen understands his strengths and weaknesses, and strives to make him an effective thinker, proficient writer and confident test taker.  In my book that’s an A+ tutor!

Allie, you are helping Jonathan immensely in much more than ELA.  You are a wonderful part of our village.

I have known her since my nephew came to the United States in 2012. He came to California, knowing only the alphabet at that time. At first, he was like a barren wilderness in terms of English. Without the intense enthusiasm and persistent professionalism from Miss Allie as a tutor and mentor, he probably would not have achieved any goal in his academic as well as behavioral aspects. She poured passion and experience into improving his English as well as adjusting himself to a new and unfamiliar environment. Thanks to her long teaching experience and warm affection for students, he showed very satisfactory results by the time when he returned to Korea. I have been very grateful for her from the bottom of my heart and really want to recommend her to someone who needs help. Miss Allie, keep up the good  work!

We thank our lucky stars that we met Ms. Allie and have built a very strong personal and professional bond.  She is a very competent teacher with a wide range of teaching skills, and her materials and methods are fantastic.  Every class is an amazing occasion to learn a lot about grammar, pronunciation, idioms, vocabulary, and reading comprehension.  Her work is a very good combination of talent and pledge.  Ms. Allie prepared personalized classes for my girls and was very focused in the areas of need.  She is very flexible and conscientious and concentrates on correcting weaknesses and makes working on them really dynamic with interesting exercises.  She is constantly providing something fun or challenging.  The dynamic of one to one is really excellent; this interaction has helped my daughters strengthen their learning greatly.  She has admirable patience, competence, and enthusiasm…definitely highly recommended!  She gained our esteem and respect forever.  We strongly suggest to have Ms. Allie as your English tutor.

We’ve had Ms. Allie as our kids’ English tutor for 7+ years between my two kids for grades 3-6.  The longevity of our relationship with Ms. Allie is really credited to the well-structured curriculum she designed and methodical lesson plan built around it, which I think is a key to advancing language arts learnings.  Ms. Allie uses a system where she introduces kids to age/grade-appropriate classic literature and uses vocabulary and reading comprehension assignments she developed for each of the books to immerse kids into reading and learning vocabulary and grammar.  I am also a big fan of Ms. Allie integrating current affairs into the tutoring and engaging kids with news topics, which I think is an important exposure for kids to have.  By any standards Ms. Allie’s workload is easy, but it sure leads the kids down the right path of acquiring good study habits and discipline.

Ms. Allie,

I just want you to know how much we miss you – especially Nicki and Hayley!  They have adjusted well to the move and are doing very well in school here in Rock Hill.  I couldn’t be prouder as a mom or more grateful for your help and friendship.  You helped them through a difficult period in their lives and education – and for that – we love you!!  Big warm hugs from all!!

My dear teacher forever shall meet all the good students!

My family first discovered Wilmington Tutoring months after coming to America.  Miss Allie had a gret deal of experience teaching students.  She also knew which English sounds were difficult for Koreans to pronounce.

My husband, my boys, and I studied with Wilmington Tutoring for over a year, until we relocated from North Carolina to Maryland at Christmas.  Our children knew only the basic alphabet and short English words when they first came to the United States, but they made many advances in their English with her.  Her specialized teaching has made our children good at reading and writing storylines.  My boys told me how much Miss Allie helped them grow in their school curriculum!

Our experience with Miss Allie (Wilmington Tutoring) was wonderful.  My son started reading and writing tutoring with Ms. Allie when he was in third grade and continued until middle of fourth until she moved out of town.

She was always well prepared for each lesson, and while giving the lesson, she was so enthusiastic.  My son enjoyed the lessons the entire time and never ever had a time to get bored.

With Ms. Allie’s help, my son get better in comprehension, reading, vocabulary, writing, and more.  I totally recommend Ms. Allie to anyone who is seeking a great tutor.  Two thumbs up from me and my son!!

Miss Allie’s tutoring program is working extremely well for both my son, Bradley, and my daughter, Christina. Bradley wasn’t as willing to put forth the necessary effort to complete the assignments in the beginning, so it took a few months before he got in the swing of it.  Miss Allie made a structured after school schedule for him , with regular time dedicated to doing Miss Allie’s assignments. I gave him a reward, like basketball or video games, if he finished. If not, no basketball or video games!  It worked like a charm, and now his study habits are drastically improved. In fact, he has really matured since starting the program, and his writing is SO much better he is at the top of his class.  He is still getting used to reading literature because he was never a reader before.  But he needed it, so I’m glad it’s part of the program. Miss Allie picks books that are slightly high, but she provides lots of supplementary materials, like vocabulary and questions to make sure he’s understanding. He’s in 6th grade now, and he has  worked with Miss Allie for a year. So glad we found her. Christina had no trouble with the program at all. She loves reading and can self-monitor. She’s in 4th grade. Two big thumbs up for Wilmington Tutoring! Thank you!
